I remember in my mid twenties asking myself, if most everything I was taught, in the humanities and particularly in history was just not true. I concluded yes. From then on, I proceeded to teach myself by reading, I still am reading. I think it is the best way to learn. I’ve read a fair amount on slavery and racism. One of the best books I read was titled,”Slavery by Another Name” It is about the re-enslavement of Black Americans from the civil War to WW11. By Douglas Blackmon. You may feel angry when you finish it though. I did.
