I’m going to be difficult and criticize the geometry :D
If there were a vertical line as the divide between genders, men and women would be side by side. It’s an amusing play on words, but it doesn’t quite work. If the line is THE divider, and men are on top, then the line must be horizontal.

Still, with all the insights he pointed out, which, IMO, were spot on, what struck me the most was that kicking ass, warrior style, and being a savior are considered the highest standards boys and girls should live up to. In other words, while he was clearly pro-equality, the female character, Rey, was still measured by hyper-masculine ideology. Nevertheless, the article was a good read.
