It’s interesting to see this quote. Just yesterday I posted something on FB having to do with women taking off their tops as a form of empowerment. Here’s the link: http://www.break.com/article/national-go-topless-day-sunday-women-show-boobs-3044554
What really got to me about this article, obviously written BY a guy FOR guys, was this line: “However, let’s not pretend they are going to convince any men this about gender equality. All we see are tits.”
I’m all for women expressing their sexuality however they want to but be careful about putting a feminist label on it without at least understanding how it’s actually perceived by men.

Power and control are what’s destroying us, and the planet. I think that women were “designed” or evolved as a counter to both. We do not need power (over-is there any other kind?) or control (of anything). These are patriarchal forces. We need to rediscover what it means to be woman, or perhaps we need to reinvent ourselves completely outside the forces of the patriarchy. One thing I do know: men need us, and because of that, they fear us. Who is going to provide the cure for that fear? How is that need going to be met, and satisfied? What kind of energy exchange can balance our purpose with their needs and desires?

I love what one commenter, Sha’Tara, said, ‘One thing I do know: men need us, and because of that, they fear us.’ She talked about inventing ourselves outside of patriarchy, as power and control is THEIR thing. DEMEANING and BELITTING women trying to take back some of that power with their sexuality is their thing, too. We can use or sexuality to show we are equal but it is true we will always be ‘exploited for male consumption.’
