Woo! Let’s check out all the privilege “cis” women have.
Oh.
Women do not willingly identify with any of the above conditions. This is precisely why the term “cis” resides in the realm of fatuous, patriarchally-approved bullshit. If women (adult human females) actually had the choice to identify their way out of their oppression we wouldn’t have any women left on the planet. It’s almost like there is some sort of material reality that women’s oppression is largely based on.
{spoiler alert:biological sex.}

Oops, didn’t mean to ‘like’ the post. Think I successfully unticked it. Anyway, given that less than half of women in the western world experience violence in their lives, would you accept that the majority here at least have biological gender privilege? For example, I personally think I have an easy time of life in many respects, as do most women I know.

Violetwisp, are you joking? Where do you get the idea “that less than half of women in the western world experience violence in their lives”? This is BS. We don’t report it because nothing is ever done, other than putting the women on trial. It is not because we do not experience violence. I have experienced enough violence for several lifetimes. A man in a dress rarely can relate.

I’ve never met a woman who hasn’t experienced violence. And why would it be fine if ‘only’ half of women western women (and why are we only talking about western women?) experience violence? What’s ok about that?

Cis priv in the main (uk) western world means:
Apart from the list above,
Being groped on the tube in London (no big deal, men can do that, it’s their right)
Being assaulted in a park (shouldn’t have been there on your own in tight jeans)
Being whistled at
Being asked for a fuck
Alternatively, being abused and called ‘a dog’
Being discriminated against at work because not as good as men
Being discriminated against for having periods/getting pregnant
Wanting to breast feed in public
But the main ones are?
We can look, oh so pretty.
Well, for a few years. Possibly.
What if we don’t want to confirm to sexual stereotypes of long-haired women, wearing pretty dresses and make-up?
Where is the privilege in some man eyeing you up to shag you?
Well?
Cis priv is great. Lucky us women.
Shall I start on cis priv of ageism for women?
Ha. Ha. Ha.
Why aren’t we commenting on lack of health care, education and employment for women all over the world? Or how refugees are raped going to the toilet?
A little perspective would be helpful. This is a post about women all over the world. And their huge problems.

I have also never met a woman who hasn’t experienced violence at some point in her life. Where are all of these women? I agree that even if the # were half, as ViolentWimp suggests, this should NOT be acceptable, or seen as something to crow about! It certainly isn’t a form of “privilege.” How utterly bizarre.

I actually didn’t understand this asinine comment. Most women I know have been sexually assualted. Breasts grabbed, arses grabbed or groped. Often in their teens. Others have been raped. Ruth did a super post on this where we all said, well yes, this happened, and no we didn’t report it.
Wonder why not?

Violet Wisp you realize there is no such thing as biological gender, right? And even if a woman got lucky enough not to experience violence, she still can experience the restriction of choices in life given to females, including in the US. So there is no cis privilege because for females, their cis gender expectations are used to abuse and restrict.
