The fight to maintain Net Neutrality has been raging. You have not heard about it because it is not in the big companies interests for you to know about it. Think it isn’t a big deal? Please partake in the observed behaviour of said companies and remind yourself that these infractions happened during the time when the regulations were still in full force with the FCC enforcing the rules.
The best predictor of future outcomes is past behaviour… Stop this shit. Canada is waffling at the moment, but it is better than the free for all that will going down in the US. If you happen to be a US citizen spend some time filling out a form and/or making a call to your congress critter here.
I’m not sure what exactly goes on in the American psyche when it comes to regulations that make the shit-kettle we know as life better for everyone. Romanticizing the ‘good ole days’ is pretty much just bug-fuck crazy, unless you enjoy eating tainted meat, breathing polluted air, and having the female half of the population as sex slaves. Regulation is necessary in a democratic society, libertarian fap-happy wet dreams aside.

Pres. tRump’s FCC head was a lawyer for ATT trying to beat net neutrality. The public comments received by the fcc total about 23 million and computer analysis of language patterns shows that the 22 million comments that were against net neutrality were almost certainly bulk/ bot generated probably using “borrowed” email addresses.

Unsurprising. Insatiable capitalists run our society, they don’t want most if, but all of it.

This brings up a point that I have been giving much thought to lately. It’s not Trump et al. that I am afraid of down south. He/They are simply a symptom of the problem. It’s the USian electorate that I am afraid of. They are getting more imperialistic with every election, successively making former hardline right wingers look like raging left wingers. Hell, even Reagan’s tax policies would be looked at as socialism (in their eyes, not what actually is socialism) by today’s Democrats.
Say what you want about the interference of money into politics and so on, millions of people still voted for Clinton of Bernie. Trump won white middle class women. Every demographic of the US populace that should have been rallying around Bernie was rallying around the two plutocrats of Trump and Clinton. And even today the Democratic party is blaming everything on Russia rather than doing some introspection as to why they couldn’t get their traditional base (that they have been abandoning ever since Carter) out to vote anymore.
So I’m not really sure what my point is anymore other than US politics are completely fucked up and it is the American people that scare me. Trump is literally one shade away from a Invate Canada and Take Their Resources type of president.

Of course, I’m not an American so I can’t say that I know things from the inside, but it looks like the whole political establishment is rotten. And yes, that includes right-wingers like Sanders who only seem leftist because the Overton Window is so far to the right.

I hope that the American people put up a fight on this one, it will make it easier to defend net neutrality in Canada, once the fight comes here.
