These 8.34 minutes should be broadcast on every TV station across the world.

Hi JZ.
Is your head of state insane? I was listening to CBC this morn and they said that he was calling the pandemic a ‘ruse’ and people should be getting back to work. That would seem to be an insane policy position…

Short answer: Yes. He’s stark raving mad. Literally, insane. Unlike Trump, who is a sociopath with multiple and severe personality disorders, Bolsonaro is neurologically unwell. Fortunately for everyone, the governors (some quite competent) and the congress have simply stopped paying attention to his ramblings. He’s not being consulted on anything, and the supreme court is overturning every executive order he issues.

Thank goodness, it sounded like he was going to deny your country into a pandemic epicentre and I was worried.

I’ve actually been pleasantly surprised by how well people have been adhering to the self-isolation.

Things go well, Schools closed, non essential business closed. So no sub teaching, but the University is still paritially open, so I have some work. People are getting the message to stay home and not congregate in public for the most part.
Our conservative government continues to undercut public services (because they are assholes) and generally do mildly stupid things.
On the whole, different, but not super terrible. :)

It’s nice being able to rely on Canada being normal.
