Ah, the cleansing of the Temple, another fairy tale. Imagine what would have really happened were someone to behave as described. The perp walks into the money changing area of the Temples surrounds and begins to raise a fuss. The guards, employed by the money changers, slam the perp to the ground and soundly beat him with their clubs. He is then hauled of by the Temple Guards to be tried for whatever, disturbing the peace, attempted robbery, etc.
With tables loaded with money (coins) and money changing in play, there is zero chance that there are no guards present. Each money changer is likely to have his own guard, someone they can trust to act on their behalf.
