The Paradox of Tolerance has been misused by those, mostly the activist left, in an attempt to quell freedom of speech and expression. Find the full essay here.

A very important point. For those whose goal is to limit free speech, and who think they’ve found a good pretext to do so here, it’s all too easy to re-define whatever they don’t like as “intolerant”. Hence the way gender-critical arguments are classed as “intolerant”, even though in reality it’s the trans militants, with their endless campaigns of threats and physical attacks and shouting-down toward anyone who challenges them, who are obviously the genuinely intolerant ones.
And as Kurilova notes elsewhere in her essay, those who use this kind of logic never seem to stop and think that it might be someone other than themselves who gets the privilege of deciding which opinions are beyond the pale and thus worthy of suppression.
I also posted about this topic a couple of weeks ago.

@Infidel
It always seems to be toward some utopian vision of how society is going to work. They can never imagine, while holding the reins of power, of being unjust or unkind to anyone. Yet in any sort of realistic version of society injustice and inequity will always be present – who sits at the centre determines who will be marginalized. But of course, the new authoritarians will do it better than the old ones…
Gonna steal some of your essay, it’s really good. :)
