I’m always a bit flabbergasted when people start making pronouncements about moral issues and backing up their claims with biblical proof. You may as well be saying that your beliefs are decisively supported by the ham sandwich you had for lunch. Qualia Soup dissects the inanity and lack of intellectual rigour of theists who claim to have absolute morality on their side. Unsurprisingly, the theist’s position turns out to be quite immoral when all is said and done. Colour me shocked.

What is the standard for one’s morality?
Society? The Bible? One’s own intuition?
Who is to say that a christian’s morality is lesser than yours?
Certainly not society, who is majority christian.
Certainly not the Bible, which condemns unbelief.
So, that leaves only one’s own intuition.
Can you imagine a world where everyone based right and wrong off of their own personal judgments?

When I said that society was majority christian, I meant western society (which I will concede is changing fast – particulary europe) .

I can! It’s called “Free Market Capitalism” and it’s supported by a government of the people, by the people, and for the people charged with protecting an individual’s right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. :) Too bad greed screws up those charged with protecting it.
In the context of this thread, I believe religion of any kind can be a form of “spiritual greed” that attempts to remove these rights from the individual, and to your point specifically, I think even young children have an innate understanding of right and wrong long before adults influence it. Therefore I can personally say that although perhaps we would not be spiritually fulfilled, we would function fine without religion in the world.

Yes I can and proof positive – It happens every day in courts across Canada and the United States.
One can make moral judgments based on, as the video suggests (1:38) Empathy, Experience, Reason and Knowledge (When we KNOW better, we can DO better).
Who is to say that a christian’s morality is lesser than yours?
My morality does not condone slavery and labels rape a heinous crime. Therefore, it is a better morality than the christian standard. Most people would agree.
So, that leaves only one’s own intuition.
You seem very hasty to cut out other casual factors that affect moral judgment. I’ll reiterate, empathy, experience, reason and knowledge all play into making moral decisions.
