Somedays you go looking for trouble, other days you just step in it. On a whim I followed a link from a discussion over at The Drudgeretort back to one of the commenters own little putrid slice of the blogosphere. I was greeted by the feverish ramblings of the delusional in favour stripping women of rights to her body. Justified, of course, by none other than the magic christain book of inanity that says its OKAY (unsurprisingly) to treat women like chattel.
We’re going to examine a particularly vile post advocating what seems to be the end of female bodily autonomy. The author a thoroughly bizarre narrative stream of godbag tosh referring to the christian boogyman Satan as Mr. Beelzebub. Laughable at the onset, the patronizing tone sets the stage for the upcoming anti-woman religious baffle gab.
“Mr. Beelzebub says many things to make abortion appear as just another meaningless thought with no consequences or judgement from our Creator. Here’s a few stretches on abortion along with my statement in red:” (I guess I’ll have to use green, as our delusional friend is using red to share his wisdom with us. You know its going to be a wild ride in the land of Fail when you see “The Creator” capitalized in the first sentence.)
1. It’s a womans body, so it’s her right. ( Her body is her temple, and God said to protect and take care of your temple. Her right is to protect the child within her temple because they are as one.)
Well, it is actually a woman’s body, so what she does with it is her business. “God said…” well that’s enough to invalidate any argument, so point number one is a wash.
2. It’s not a child, it’s nothing until it’s born. ( He labels the child ‘It’ to distance the child from mother.)
Oh, beware of the temptations of the ‘darkside’ of my mythology of choice and creates a straw man all at the same time. “It” has several names as it matures inside the woman uterus, blastocyst, fetus etc. Calling it a child at these stages is one of the time honoured anti-choice obfuscations of fact. You can call an acorn an oak tree if you’d like, but you’d still be wrong.
3. Feminism gave you the power, use it in all ways. ( With great power comes great responsibility and like anything, Feminism should call for the respect of others and remember that ”just because I can” is not a good reason.)
Wow, channelling the wisdom of Stan Lee and Spiderman to serve the religious whack-a-nut cause. Stay tuned for the next biblical announcement from the Flash about the horrors of premature ejaculation (god hates that too). Feminism does call for the respect of “others” namely women, you know, the half of society that the religious wish to disenfranchise and marginalize. Feminism argues that women should be treated like well, people, as opposed to incubators.
4. Abortion clinics beats mass wire hanger abortion. (The ends doesn’t justify the means. Legal abortion has caused irreversible harm to way more souls, the living and the unborn.)
I have no idea what the point in black means other than that yes indeed, having a medical professional perform an abortion is much safer than illegal means. Misogyny is always ugly, but it is contemptibly vile when dressed in the tattered religious trappings attempting to masquerade as ‘ethical’.
Newsflash: Women will seek abortion whether it is legal are not, and by what you have said its okay for more of them to die because they cannot access the procedure withing the relative safety of hospital or clinic. But murdering women for god is nothing new for christians, hello Inquisition.
4. These are unwanted fetuses and they will be an unwanted children left for tax payers to take care of. ( So we’re prejudging millions of souls, we’re suppose to judge before knowing, how is this Godly?)
God kills millions of babies every month, every year etc. Ever notice that thing that happens to women oh..once a month…all that egg goodness gets washed away. Coupled with the fact that roughly 2/3 of fertilized eggs don’t implant and get exuded means your sky-daddy is all about the murder from stage one.
Oh and you’ll have to prove there is a soul in the first place for any of the above horsepucky to make sense.
5. Why make a female suffer through child-birth when raped, molested or she has medical issues where death is possible while giving birth. ( The devil is good at throwing in arguments that will make us go hmm. This is the debate we should be having regarding abortions, not the all out, everything goes policy we have now.)
That darned devil, making arguments for the idea that women are autonomous human beings and have the right to choose what goes on in their bodies. The whole idea smacks of freedom, equality and justice. Therefore, the religious must be against it.
“As Christians we shouldn’t [sic] except abortions as a necessary evil to protect us from us. [You certainly don’t have to, but for the rest of us who are not afflicted with jebus on the brain, piss-off.]We can also acknowledge ones right to choose, but hold firm to the idea of right and wrong choices[Decided on by who? You amazing moral guide written by the supreme being who in his commandments made no mention of rape? The bible is no place even to start a reasonable ethical system]. Have we gotten so soft on whats wrong that it just don’t matter anymore [I’m sorry about your problem :)]. Well it matters, when so many loose their way and open up to sin, it affects us all [citation needed], and I refuse to voluntarily surrender my soul to this foolishness, I will be no part [You make it sound like giving something up that you most likely don’t have is some sort of big deal. It isn’t.].”
And there you have it folks, partriarchally approved anti-woman, anti-choice religious douche-baggery at it finest. Isn’t the inherent misogyny grand? Damn women wanting a voice of what goes on in their bodies…the nerve.

Your pingback is flattering but I must say you are quite the hypocritical moron. In your world it’s ok to fight for women’s rights to abort, but any rights for a Christian should be stripped from the books. In your world, you rather save a whale or tree, but kill a child. You confuse me, are you for people’s right to choose or not? Simple, I have a right to be “nutty” just as you have a right to be a soulless, hedonistic ahole.
It’s weird, people like you want to save “Mother Earth” the giver of all we have, but can’t seem to connect that to the “Creator” of Mother Earth. And once again numnut, I definitely DON’T believe in the “daddy in the sky” thingy, I believe God to be the SCIENCE that gave way for Earth and everything else.
Bro, you oppose bigotry but you spew your bigotry on Christians. Don’t have the desire or time to debate each of your points but one thing I can say is you put some dramatic spin on my words. You know nothing; you have a PhD in stupidity. You are similar to a racist; you make Christians to be what you want them to be. But say what you want, I have rhino skin!
Look in the mirror; you have Ben’s booboo stains on your nose.

It seems the active campaign is for godbothers like yourself to attempt to denude women of their rights to bodily autonomy. What makes the situation more insidious, but unsurprising as misogyny is inherent in most religions, is that often religion is used as a justification for attacking the rights of women. If you are feeling impinged upon because you cannot impose your ghastly archaic values on society, that is none of my concern.
“In your world, you rather save a whale […]” ” […] people like you want to save “Mother Earth”
Easy to make quick generalizations, no?
I definitely DON’T believe in the “daddy in the sky” thingy, I believe God to be the SCIENCE that gave way for Earth and everything else.
So then why all the mumbo-jumbo about satan in your ramblings? I mean it is all shades of easter-bunny/toothfairy to the rational, but claiming to not to be a godbag, when extolling your readership to be wary of satan seems a little…inconsistent.
Bro, you oppose bigotry but you spew your bigotry on Christians.
Feeling oppressed yet as the majority? I oppose the vacuous and stupid things christians do and advocate, especially when it could affect what is supposed to be a secular rational society. Please, feel free to mystically wank to whichever mythology you choose, but keep your delusional bullshite out of the affairs of state.
Don’t have the desire or time to debate each of your points but one thing I can say is you put some dramatic spin on my words.
It is okay to concede when you are wrong. It is one of the fundamentals of critical thinking and rational debate.
You know nothing; you have a PhD in stupidity. You are similar to a racist; you make Christians to be what you want them to be.
Insults aside, I make christians out by what they say. Your commentary and mine are posted here and it is your torpidly, horribly wrong ideas that I (mostly) comment on.

Everyone is free, and has right to their body, and testament to their own will. If you were a woman who had been pregnant by rape or otherwise then you’d have a say on this issue, but only for your body alone. Irregardless, it is clear through your own actions that you lack enough critical thought to challenge your most cherished beliefs. We aren’t underpopulated, our world is brimming with human life to the point that a future world war, worldwide catastrophe, or a pandemic infection are imminent threats within this century. When resources dwindle mankind goes to war. Think about the implications of forcing women to birth children. Remember this, it’s hypocritical to make laws infringing upon the rights of another which are not applicable to you, or to make laws to which the lawgiver not accountable. Making abortion illegal would make criminal acts that have no victim, and could further victimize others. Quite contradictory to popular belief the US was founded not on Christianity, but upon concepts of equality, critically thought through by human beings who knew first hand the dangers of over-bearing political and religious regimes (thus separation of Church and State).
You are free to believe in whatever magical imaginary friend you want, but you are not entitled to (constitutionally or otherwise) take the rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness for others. The right lies with the woman bearing the child, the one whose life is wagered for it. This is the foundation of equality, and taking the rights of women because of your (Biblical Morality) is unconstitutional not to mention ethically questionable, and unfair. Morality should logically stand on it’s own, having it’s own valid reasons outside of biblical morality otherwise it is morally questionable. A portion of the conservative movement though, is actively engaged in trying to override the Constitution of the United States of America with biblical law which are not contextually or constitutionally supported by what we currently know and the current condition of our world climate. Morality is not static. Forcing women to birth children, whether by rape, non-consensual (statutory), or consensual will only compound the issues we face currently on the whole of humanity. Humanity as a whole is facing extinction if we don’t change our ways, and start really working on taking care of our planet, our resources, and our fellow man.
You and many other Christians talk about persecution in America. America? Really! You are the majority in Canada, the US, Mexico and much of South America and the world (33% of the world population). And your cohorts are running around trying to peddle your backwater, outdated morality as law, and in doing so are persecuting every religious, gender, and ideological minority in your wake. Don’t talk about persecution to the truly persecuted. Live in China or Iran, then talk about persecution. Conservatives, especially Christians in the right wing of politics, are actively engaged in deceitful, malodorous, quite immoral campaigns of bigotry against everyone who doesn’t live by their morality. Individual Freedom through Equality is the law of this land, not the bible, and your God even commands you to obey that law though you may be commanded (individually) to do otherwise in your own life. The lawgiver is responsible for making decisions in the interest of all, not just the majority. We as a race have grown and learned from our growing pains, and as such it is our obligation to evolve morality with what we know. Knowing the dangers of pregnancy, the injustices to woman (consent through coercion/false consent), the state of our overflowing foster care system, the poverty of single parent households, worldwide over-population, the economic downturn, and of the condition of our dwindling resources, it is morally obligatory that we not continue or stand up policy that will contribute to this problem.
If you have enough free time to worry about what women are doing with ‘their’ bodies, why don’t you spend that time serving those who are starving, clothing those who are naked, shoeing those who are barefoot, and adopting those who are orphaned rather than complaining about individual freedoms. The Christian right has a bad tendency to shirk personal responsibility through prayer (Rick Perry Et Al), and what they say belies their inaction on important social issues. Many ‘Christians’ care if a fetus dies, but do not see the children starving in an alley. Many ‘Christians’ care if a woman has an abortion, but they’re callous to the men sent to die for their own righteousness. Do you see the disparity? You should stop worrying about the little Mr. Beelzebub following you around, and start worrying about your own sanity, and fixing the problems facing the world. To be honest, the magical thinking of the religions is far more dangerous because it causes you to see things that simply aren’t there. Biblical morality given it’s track record is an insufficient justification for the infringement of civil liberty. You have a brain, use it.
