I have issues with this conservative BS … making queer theory into anti-socialist crapola. That’s not what queer theory is. You can be authoritative without being Marxist. Marxism is an ECONOMIC theory, it has NOTHING to do with gender, especially the gender wars we are especially are experiencing now.
& what he said about Marxists & feminist is also BS. Of course a man is speaking.

I would suggest that even if one edited out the references to Marxism, his critiques of what is complete insanity hold true.

This 15 minute breakdown of Queer Theory may help us to better understand what is going on behind the large scale social movement that seems to be insane yet gaining steam. (Just look at the insanity of Bill 67, the education Bill put forward in 2022 in Ontario, to understand what an ideological capture looks like in action.)
Well, we need to understand because the supporters of Queer Theory (remember, just one branch of of Critical Theory) have goal. Understanding that goal helps us to understand where we stand, whether or not to go along to get along, whether or not we should speak up and speak out, whether we should even listen to anyone not fully embraced by the Elect of Critical Theory, and why all of these choices we make on an individual level MATTER. Waving it away as if unimportant or too complex is EXACTLY what is intended by those who wish to impose this ideology not just on you but every single student in the country and harness their indoctrinated activism. This is what’s going on.

It sits uneasy with me as well, but I think that many of his criticisms are worth considering.
Look at the founding documents of QT and the links are quite clear.
I cannot find a link outside not behind an academic paywall but here is a summary – https://www.gradesaver.com/thinking-sex/study-guide/summary
Here is Lindsay with commentary on that very paper.

Marxism goes quite a bit further than just being a economic theory. At its very heart it is a conflict theory and it is designed to pull at the threads of liberal societies in order to create chaos and disorder with the goal of fomenting revolution within said society.
Following the history of leftist thought – a distinct turn was made away from straight economic marxism when it was demonstrated that the proletariat within liberal societies were generally stable.
The shift to cultural marxism can be seen in the writings of Herbert Marcuse, Adorno, and Paulo Freire – all wanted to seize the means of cultural production to foment revolution in liberal societies.
It isn’t easy to hear criticisms of feminism but necessary to see the weaknesses in the theory.
Because what has happened is that queer theory has advanced the dialectic and rendered much of feminist work superfluous in it’s wake.
Consider how standpoint epistemology is now being deployed against women fighting for their hard one rights in society.
It goes something like this – trans identified males inhabit a unique location in society and experience an oppression that is only understandable to them. If you are not a TiM, then you can have no understanding of what it is like and need to reconsider your privilege and reset your activism to support this most marginalized class in society. Yes, you are a transphobe and a bigot if you not support this self identified most marginalized class in society and their goals of erasing females and their rights in society.
The basis of their claims lie in them using social constructivism to deconstruct the notion of biological sex in society. Where as radical feminists stopped (rightly) at gender. But the progression of the dialectic has led to this – There is a special property called cisheteronormativity that excludes and oppresses a class of people who are deemed that other (trans) therefore the notions of cisheteronormativity must be queered and have their boundaries blurred and distorted.
This is why it is hard to define what a woman is today – precisely because of queer theory backed marxist conflict theory – they blur the categories (progressing the dialectic) in order to destablize the current ‘oppressive’ system and move to overthrow it and replace it with one in which they move the margins to the centre – burning down society in the process – in order to give their utopian ideals a go.

The link to the video tildeb posted is quite concise. It’s only 15 minutes. It may be good to take a listen and then bring specific points to the table to unpack them more?
This has been a very uncomfortable time for me intellectually and morally speaking as much of theories and points of view that I used to follow have been called into question.
The Neo Left has gone off the rails – see all of transgender ideology – but its roots lie in marxist conflict theory which has many analogues in radical feminism and how some lines of radfem thought have paralleled the BS that is going on today.
Does Lindsey get it 100% correct? Nope, but what he does do is spend the time on original theoretical works that are currently informing what is happening in society today. The amount of legwork he does in presenting and unpacking leftist ideas is noteworthy – plus giving some context as to how they inform the current zeitgeist.
I was shocked when I heard his first lecture, but then my curiosity got the better of me and I’m thankful I persevered to be able to see and hear criticism of my epistemological stances.

I still think the complexity of a very simple idea is a means to cover up a really bad idea and then fool people into thinking supporting it is ‘sophisticated’.
The simple idea is that groups compete for resources. This is an easy way to frame the world and offers some generalized insight into how things change over time. For example, this country has a war with that country and this is how things changed. It works on a surface level understanding. The deeper we dig, however, the sooner we realize the ‘group’ is too simplistic; there are individuals of influence (of various kinds) who shape this narrative and find cover by doing so. We find out that the ‘groups’ never were one homogenous thing at all but populations that shared some selected aspect… like nationality. Where we go wrong so easily is confusing the order, thinking that groups are real and the people who constitute them are cogs. Well, the group only becomes ‘real’ in this sense is if enough people believe the selected aspect causes/creates/forms/identifies/shapes the individuals who make them up.
When belief in group identity gains enough believers, very bad things happen. The individuals within the group construct then become different from some other group construct and we see how treatment of this Other is altered in a variety of ways.
This is the heart and soul of tribalism.
Marxism piggybacks tribalism and then frames the world as competition between these groups that causes real world conflict. And in many ways this is true… by those who believe the groups are real! So we get wars and apartheid and racism and patriarchy and so on and so on and so on. Real conflict does arise and it is always divisive in this model. Today’s ‘progressive’ movement accomplishes exactly this: group based rights, group based policies, group based conflicts, group based language, group based identities, and so on. All of these are framed as competing for higher positions in the social hierarchy. That is the core Marxist framing… being supported by those who believe in the group identity.
The only problem, however, is that these groups are not real. They are constructed by selecting only certain aspects and elements into which individuals who share some selected aspect or element are slotted. This is why any ideology that frames the world this way doesn’t work because in reality there are more differences of individuals within any one group than there are between such groups. The reality is that individuals are real with a set of common and uniting concerns. This is brilliance of liberalism because it recognizes this reality and when the world is framed this way works like a tide to try to raise all boats. The real enemy of reality-based liberalism is belief in the reality of fictional group ideology.

And this is why I have been SO disappointed in atheists who fail to recognize their own faith-based belief in constructing, supporting, and then imposing their ideological framework on others as if their group-based beliefs were true. And oh-so-virtuous! This is how religions have fooled people, too, hidden behind an assumption of virtue for going along to get along. I would have thought atheists – especially those of us who supported New Atheism to get religion out of the public domain and back into the private where it belongs – would have seen this more clearly in the group-based cultural and political partisanship currently sweeping the West and undermining and damaging the liberal project. Perhaps fatally.

It’s only a religion if the Right are doing it.
Some of the blame needs to go on the postmodern/marxist scholarship that has so completely muddled the issues and blurred the important political stances on the Left. It would be nice if they simply stated they were conflict theorists with aims to overthrow society – for the better – and go from there. Unpacking what is being said versus what they actually mean is often too big a bill to fill for everyday people.
