Identity politics sow division and strife within society. We need to revisit the idea that we are all Canadians first and foremost. We come in all different shapes, beliefs, and abilities. Those differences and the acceptance of our actual diversity is what makes Canada a wonderful place to live and prosper.
“I’m pleased that in 2023 LGBT people can be themselves in public, and that there is zero tolerance for bullying in schools and workplaces. That said, I’m starting to worry that some LGBT people are becoming the new bullies.
Rather than demand that we be free from discrimination, many LGBT activists now demand that people profess allegiance to a highly contested set of ideas about gender and sexuality by wearing the rainbow on their uniforms, hoisting the Pride Progress flag, or sending their children to schools where they’re required to sit through performances by drag queens. The message has shifted from “love is love and everyone is equal” to “you will endorse the most radical viewpoints on sexuality and gender or else.”
This change was captured recently in a viral recording of an Edmonton teacher berating Muslim students for skipping Pride celebrations at school. “We believe in freedom, we believe that people can marry whomever they want,” she said. “That is in the law, and if you don’t think that should be the law, you can’t be Canadian, you don’t belong here.”
People who hold different viewpoints not only belong in Canada, they’re protected by our constitution. In Canada, while people have a right to be treated equally under the law, they also have the right to freedom of religion and conscience, and freedom of thought, belief, opinion, and expression. These rights are infringed when people are forced to profess or actively support ideas that they don’t believe.
For many, a recent sign that the goalposts had shifted was when National Hockey League goalie James Reimer refused to wear the rainbow symbol because it conflicted with his Christian beliefs. Rather than using this as an opportunity to engage in dialogue to try to understand and possibly change his views, the self-appointed spokespeople for the LGBT community labelled Reimer a bigot and said he should comply or lose his job.
There is no reason to believe Reimer is hateful. He said he wouldn’t wear the rainbow because he doesn’t support an “activity or lifestyle” but that he strongly believes that every person has value and that LGBT people should be welcome in hockey. Reimer did not say that LGBT people should have fewer legal rights or be excluded. Rather, he seemed to be saying that he doesn’t want to endorse gay sex or gay marriage. For many Canadians, these are incorrect or hurtful viewpoints, but the only way to change others’ minds about them is through good-faith dialogue.
Another sign that the goalposts had shifted was when the York Catholic District School Board decided not to raise the Pride Progress flag outside its headquarters. Politicians like New Democratic MPP Kristyn Wong-Tam responded by demanding that flying the flag be mandated at every school. Doug Eyolfson, a former Liberal MP from Manitoba, expressed a common sentiment in a tweet that tied the flag to LGBT suicide rates. “To resist a simple gesture like a Pride flag is hate,” Eyolfson wrote. “It is not ‘a difference of opinion’. It is not ‘religious principle’. It is hate, and it kills young people.”
Refusing to raise the rainbow flag or the Pride Progress flag is not inherently hateful, and it’s hard to believe kids would kill themselves because they don’t see a flag in front of their schools. What’s clear is that raising the flag is not a “simple gesture” for many people from religious backgrounds. To them, it amounts to actively participating in celebrating something that is inconsistent with sincerely held beliefs.
The politicians raising Pride Progress flags at schools, hospitals and police stations claim they are being “inclusive,” but it’s clear that they are making many Canadians feel excluded. When the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board announced Pride celebrations — a week after telling staff that students may not opt out of “2SLGBTQ+ learnings” — more than 40 per cent of kids at nine schools and more than 60 per cent of kids at two others stayed home.”
This is call to action by one parent who is very concerned about the pernicious effects of gender ideology on children. Apparently, he lost his child to the transgender cult – because that is what cults do – insert a wedge between parents and their children to break the bonds of family and support networks to increase the likelihood of gaining a convert to the cause.
As a Canadian teacher I won’t promote this ideology while I teach. It is corrosive and harmful to child development and a stable childhood identity – that in itself should give Educators pause.
This debate needs to happen in society. Parents, teachers, and educational institutions must speak honestly and freely about what gender ideology is and what is being taught in schools.
“Last June in a shocking but unreported event at Vimy Ridge, an Ottawa Public School under the OCDSB, more than 70% of K-8 children were mysteriously absent on Pride Celebration Day. There was no media coverage of the event but I’ve since spoken with parents and teachers from the school who shared details. Parents of Muslim children are over the Rainbow.
The School announced that it was holding a Pride celebration day though an e-mail to parents. When Muslim parents pushed back, saying that this was contrary to their religious beliefs they were met with lectures about their own doctrines of tolerance and acceptance from school administrators. Needless to say, this didn’t go well.
One parent I spoke with, who gathered more than 7,500 signatures in just a few days before Change.org throttled petition, said that school officials were informed that tolerance and acceptance did not mean celebrating and affirming and the parents of kids at the school showed their disagreement by sending a message – we will keep our kids home.
An event like this was reported earlier this year in a southern Ontario school where 30% of kids were absent on a rainbow day. This week, the same London, Ontario school, staged a repeat performance. According to my source, this is an issue of concern at the national level for Muslim organizations.
In another case of religious tradition under attack, Josh Alexander of “Save Canada” stood outside a Calgary High-school this week handing out Bibles and was physically accosted by rainbow protestors. Alexander had called for an international student walkout day on the 17th of May, #IDAHOBIT day, through his growing social media network and counter protestors turned up, assaulted him and attempted to burn bibles. Click the image to go to the bird platform to see the unsettling repeated assaults against Josh in the Rebel News Video.
I kind of need to know now, what the fuck is going on in Ontario with their interpretation of Human Rights and Discrimination. What I do know is that we do not solve present day discrimination by race, by MORE discrimination by race. This bizarre Kafkaesque excerpt from the C2C website.
On November 10, 2022 – lightning fast by HRTO standards – I heard from the Tribunal again. It was a brief but formal Decision that reasserted the SummerUp program’s legality and ended with an Order declaring, “The Application is dismissed.” In her decision, adjudicator Eva Nichols took issue, again, with the idea that I had a right to bring forward such a case when I had not “faced any form of discrimination on a protected ground” and because I had confirmed I was not bringing the application forward on behalf of another person, namely my son.
But it was the Decision’s Kafkaesque mental process that stood out. Nichols pointed out that “colour and race are among the protected grounds” under which discrimination is prohibited. But, she wrote, “They are not terms that are defined in the Code.”
“No fixed definition”: The HRTO now holds that race is a “social construct” that can be based on mutable characteristics from beliefs and manner of speech to clothing, diet and leisure preferences – things long considered stereotypes.
Instead, the OHRC “offers the following definitions in its Policy and guidelines on racism and racial discrimination…The Commission has explained ‘race’ as socially constructed differences among people based on characteristics such as accent or manner of speech, name, clothing, diet, beliefs and practices, leisure preferences, places of origin and so forth…Recognizing that race is a social construct, the Commission describes people as ‘racialized person’ or ‘racialized group’ instead of the more outdated and inaccurate terms ‘racial minority,’ ‘visible minority,’ ‘person of colour’ or ‘non-White.’ There is no fixed definition of racial discrimination… [emphasis added].”
So race is a legal grounds on which discrimination is prohibited. But it has no definition – and in fact can be based on things like what we eat or what we do for fun. In other words, on racial stereotypes the use of which, in the not so distant past, would themselves have been considered outrageously racist. Nor is there a definition of racial discrimination per se. The Tribunal’s decision did, however, specify one thing racial discrimination can’t be: “[19] It is important to note in the Tribunal’s jurisprudence that an allegation of racial discrimination or discrimination on the grounds of colour is not one that can be or has been successfully claimed by persons who are white and non-racialized [emphasis added].”
In other words, according to the Tribunal, white people cannot be discriminated against on the basis of their whiteness. (It’s not true, however, that such a claim has never succeeded. A group of white employees in B.C. not only won their case against that province’s Human Rights Tribunal but also successfully defended their claim in court that they were unjustly fired due to their “wrong” race.)
The belief that white people cannot suffer discrimination because they are white is not only held by the HRTO, but is often expressed in the media and by activists. (Source of right photo: alecperkins, licensed under CC BY 2.0)
It’s difficult to grasp which of the two major elements of the HRTO’s decision is more troubling: that blatant acts of discrimination are excused, and in fact are not even considered worthy of consideration if the person discriminated against is white, or that the OHRC is redefining race and racism as based on “social constructs” – habits and practices, like clothing and leisure preferences, that long were considered stereotypes.
After thirty one years I’m pretty much done with the Canadian political left. The NDP is faux-activist driven and impotent while the Liberals are roughly the same as the Conservatives but delight in erasing females from Canadian society under the guise of ‘gender inclusiveness’ (gross!).
Let’s be honest the PPC are just a little too crazy around the edges to be a viable political force in Canada. However the Canadian Centrist party seems like a fairly sane and rational choice. This snippet from their website –
“There is no political party in Canada that has a balanced approach to critical issues faced by all Canadians today, and hence there is dire need of a political platform which provides Centrist, the most practical and pragmatic approach to problems faced by Canadians. Centrist Party’s vision is to provide transparent government leading to economic prosperity and strong united Canada.
All political parties in Canada either follow a right or left political ideology and they are quite divided in their approach toward economical and social issues. Liberal Party, NDP and Green Party are considered left wing parties. Conservative Party, and other Right wing parties use fear mongering, anti-minority and anti-indigenous rhetoric, whereas left- wing parties are against developing our natural resources and have become too much extremist in their approach to social issues”
So yeah, not bad. However there is another, still nascent party, waiting in the wings. The Centre Ice Conservatives this is part of their bit.
“We are a platform that intends to be a strong, bold and proud voice for the centre-right of Canada’s political spectrum.
Why are we doing this? Because we don’t want the centre to be marginalized and ignored any longer. And because our voice – your voice – firmly focused on the priorities of mainstream Canadians, is badly needed today. More than ever.
Why is that?
Because “woke” voices on the edges of the left and “populist” voices on the fringes of the right are sucking up all the oxygen in what passes for political debate in Canada. And Canada is worse off for it. These loud and fringe voices dominate Party politics, creating tribal divisions and fierce debates over issues mainly long-settled in the minds of most Canadians.
That leaves most of us in the middle scratching our heads, wondering “Who speaks for us?”.
It seems like the Canadian Centrist Party and the Centre Ice Party should get together and have a chat.
We are going to go through the article and highlight what the YWCA aka the Young Women’s Christian Association is saying in an attempt to normalize the notion that males who ‘identify’ as women are actually women as per the definition of women: Adult Human Females. Spoiler: The YWCA’s rationalization will go poorly if you happen to value truth and reality. Let’s dig in and enjoy what happens when organizations become ideologically captured by the cult of gender.
”
“YWCA says feminist movement cannot evolve without inclusion of trans women”
Well, well, well. It is nice they start off with the bullshit right off the top. What they have said here is that the feminist movement cannot evolve with the inclusion of adult human males. Isn’t obvious by now that females simply cannot have or run a movement without including men? It’s about time we evolved feminism by including and centring males within it. Nothing could go wrong…
“YWCA Regina is doubling down on its support of the transgender woman it chose to give the keynote speech at the 2023 Nutrien Women of Distinction Awards on May 6. This comes after the speaker, Fae Johnstone, received significant backlash, transphobic remarks and threats after her attendance at the event was announced on April 21.”
Well of course they are ‘doubling down’. Dealing with recalcitrant females that object to a male colonizing and thus erasing females from society is definitely a clarion call to strengthen your resolve. For the benefit of the casual reader “transphobic remarks” encompass anything a gender ideologue doesn’t agree with.
“The announcement even resulted in calls from far right media to fire Johnstone, who is a high-profile trans activist and a YWCA Canada board member.”
According to most transactivists these days the far right includes anyone who doesn’t believe in their mystical beliefs. A quick quiz – can humans change their sex? If you answer “No”, the answer that comports with material reality we all share – welcome to the far right, you bigot.
“But Melissa Coomber-Bendtsen, CEO of YWCA Regina, said the organization supports Johnstone wholeheartedly. “She’s an incredible community leader in our country [and] has done a huge amount of work with the federal government on gender and sexually diverse policy and framework,” Coomber-Bendsten said. “YWCA Regina chose Fae as our keynote speaker because I think that given the current climate that we’re under, it was so important to have the perspective of trans women be given and be shared with our community and Regina.”
The gender cult makes the inroads it does because it manages to manipulate women into somehow believing that men who call themselves women actually are women. Usually the angle used is ‘gosh these poor gender confused males are obviously the most marginalized people to have ever existed, let’s shit on all feminism and centre these poor men in our movement’. It is a fucking sad state of affairs when it becomes okay to erase females and their accomplishments in society in the name of a ‘diverse and shared’ community.
“Johnstone said she wasn’t surprised by the attacks she received, but is still saddened”.
Good. Get used to it buddy. Women are fighting back against transgender ideology and female erasure in our society.
“The far right will zero in on us. They’ll talk about how we’re a threat to women and children. But feminist organizations all across Canada, every major feminist organization in this country, recognizes that there is no gender equity without trans women,” Johnstone said.”
No. People who comport with reality and respect female rights, boundaries, and safety will oppose what you are doing and what you support. Peoplelike WRN Canada.
Yeah, so again, its the guilt association. Disagreeing with male gender fantasy pretty much automatically makes you “far right”. By this definition, most of Canada is ‘far right’. Also, I’m not really sure how including gender-confused men in female spaces, services, and sports leads to “gender equity”. What it actually leads to is males taking female spots in society and making actual females feel unsafe in formally single sex spaces. So no, lets take a large pass on any notion of ‘gender equity’ from this individual.
“Coomber-Bendsten said the transphobic reaction to Johnstone giving the keynote speech originally came from outside Regina, but was quickly picked up inside the community through social media, phone calls, emails and even people delivering handwritten letters to the YWCA.”
Women speaking about how inappropriate it is to have a man giving the keynote address at a female awards show is apparently ‘transphobic’. People calling you on your bullshit is what happens in a free society, and let me assure you, the bullshit is flowing hard and fast at the YWCA.
“She said many far right organizations believe trans women are detrimental to the feminist movement. But the YWCA and Johnstone disagree.”
The far right are certainly a powerful entity in Canadian society… (do keep in mind if you like to comport with reality and science this makes you irrecoverably ‘far right-wing’) or maybe just a fantastical construction designed to frighten people into silence about the gender cult. Because the gender cultists do not have arguments. Instead they have to threaten, bully, and intimidate those who would dare question their toxic ideology.
“Trans women experience significant gender inequity. We are more likely to live in poverty, more likely to experience hate, harassment and violence in our lives,” Johnstone said.”
Those with serious mental issues when it comes to dealing with reality and clinging delusions about themselves almost always have serious issues with state of and their place in society. We as a society should seek to get people with gender delusions the rational evidence based therapeutic help they need.
“So a feminist movement that is truly imagining a better world for everybody, one in which we have eradicated gender norms … it has to include transgender, diverse people because we often bear the brunt or significant volume of the hate.”
The misuse of feminist critique is off the charts here. Gender norms (aka gender) are a sets of ‘expected’ behaviours and norms that members of the respective sexes are supposed to follow to be a ‘normal’ male or female in society. These sex stereotypes hurt both women and men in society and their role in society should be diminished. Males and females should not face strictures for operating outside of the perceived gender norms. Transgender ideology is the polar opposite of this notion. If your male child plays with dolls and is nurturing then by this ideology he needs to be ‘transitioned (put on off-label puberty blockers/cross-sex hormones/surgically mutilated and rendered infertile)’ into a woman. Transgender ideology and the cult of gender is actually reactionary as it seeks to codify the gender stereotypes of what being a male or female is. Whereas, second wave feminists and many rational people would say people should adopt whichever stereotypes/behaviours they are comfortable with and be done with it. For example, if you are male and want to rock a dress or skirt, that all good. You are a male who likes wearing typically female clothing. All good. You be you, bro! What dress wearing doesn’t do, in any tangible way, is make you female.
“YWCA Regina serves two-spirit peoples, trans women, gender diverse and sexually diverse women in its shelters, programs, outreach and harm reduction work. Coomber-Bendsten said the staff is also diverse and includes transgender women.”
It’s okay to help other people out. It isn’t okay if you get sucked into their reality denying cult.
“We feel a big responsibility to make sure that we are answering that call to action to create an inclusive space in a more safe space. We’ve done a lot of work but, you know, acknowledging that we still have lots of work to do,” said Coomber-Bendtsen.
Bullshit. This is how Woke-Speak works. I will bet millions of dollars that their ‘inclusive space” does not include gender critical women (aka TERFS). The inclusion and safety comes to abrupt halt when you disagree with their gender magic and want to deal with material reality and evidence based arguments. Be aware of the double meanings when activists speak, because what they say and what they mean are almost always two different things.
“Johnstone said there is no way to advance feminism without recognizing that there is not just one definition of a woman and that women won’t always share the same experiences.”
Feminism has been doing just fine with centring females in its movements and actions in society. The only definition needed is this one: Woman = Adult human female.
“”I don’t have everything in common with women who aren’t trans, just like I, as a white woman, have a different experience of womanhood than a Black or Indigenous woman might. It’s not about a universal understanding of womanhood, it’s about dismantling the structures of violence and inequity that harm all of us,” said Johnstone.”
You have nothing in common with adult human females, as you are a man. Socialized as a man and raised as one. You can’t know what its like to be a woman because you are not one.
“While Johnstone is excited to give the keynote speech at the awards, she said she’s tired of the transphobic hate she receives. She said she has been targeted seven times in seven months by far right groups. Johnstone has received death threats and been encouraged to end her life. “Trans people aren’t asking for much. We’re asking for human rights, dignity and equality,” said Johnstone.”
Trans human rights, dignity and equality is code for this:
A little more on Johnstone’s activism. His words speak for themselves –
Why not fund the Vancouver Rape Relief Shelter? It is exclusively a single sex shelter. Sorry raped women, your sanctuary just isn’t “inclusive” enough for Johnstone.
Johnstone’s “inclusivity” ends quite abruptly when when women start speaking about their rights, boundaries, and safety.
“Coomber-Bendtsen said many people believe that when people focus on including trans women and other marginalized communities, it takes away from their own needs. “That couldn’t be further from the truth,” she said. Coomber-Bendsten said that a lack of knowledge or understanding in the country does lead to a lack of empathy. “It is that collective move forward with empathy and knowledge that is really going to bring change in our community.” While there was vitriol and online attacks following the keynote announcement, YWCA Regina said it also received calls from people that wanted tickets to the event so they could understand more about trans women.”
What is actually stunning is the complete ideological capture of the YMCA. There is a stunning lack of empathy for women whose rights, boundaries, and safety have all been jeopardized and put at risk because of the inane desire to put males into female spaces. Empathy is not required in this situation. Just a large dose of commonsense and a return to respecting females in Canadian society. Look at how the international YWCA versus the Canadian Branch defines itself. Guess which one retains the focus on females and their needs and which one has been corrupted by gender ideology.
– The Young Women’s Christian Association ( YWCA) is a nonprofit organization with a focus on empowerment, leadership, and rights of women, young women, and girls in more than 100 countries. The World office is currently based in Geneva, Switzerland, and the nonprofit is headquartered in Washington, DC. – YWCA (Canada) – Canada is a leading voice for women, girls, Two-Spirit and gender diverse people. For 150 years, we’ve been at the forefront of a movement: to fight gender-based violence, build affordable housing and advocate for workplace equity.
I digress, but it is hard to miss when it is out in plain sight. Let’s finish the article.
“The 2023 Nutrien Women of Distinction Award will be held on May 6 at the GT Lounge. For the first time, this year’s event sold out within two days. The YWCA said since receiving transphobic backlash, sponsors of the awards event have voiced their continued support.”
The 2023 Nutrien Women of Distinction Award will be distinct for a entirely different set of reasons than those intended. The distinction is highlighting the colonization of female spaces in society by gender confused males and erasure of females in Canadian society.
Driving to work on Saturday and Sunday I tune to CBC to get an idea of what is going on in Alberta and the world. On Sunday though I was quite perplexed. The topic was – I think – bear safety.
Bear safety, especially during spring, is a relevant topic in many parts of Alberta as human and wild habitats are now entangled. Reminding humans not to be stupid around bears saves human and bear lives. I was expecting a rundown of the basic tips for not being an idiot around bears. Something like this (also found on CBC).
You know, relevant fact based information that will useful most people. But that didn’t happen.
Instead, I was introduced to ‘indigenous ways’ of coexisting with bears, and how important it was to work with indigenous Canadians. The news piece featured a short interview with an individual who said that coexisting with bears was the indigenous way of life and it was culturally important feature of their heritage.
What I took from the piece was that it was important to, in an ‘indigenous way’ coexist with bears – because Indigenous Canadian Culture…
What was missing from the news story was any sort of factual information on keeping yourself safe during the annual spring bear awakening season(!). I’m pretty sure the phrase ‘indigenous ways of knowing” was repeated at least three times during the piece, and I thought to myself, “What additional knowledge is being added to the topic of bear safety?”.
I’m guessing the answer is pretty close to zero. Biologists have done a fairly good job at studying, recording, and making knowledgeable observations about bear behaviour why not share some of those with the public? But no, our national broadcaster decided to make the story about (undefined) mystical ways of knowing how to coexist with bears.
I know mornings can be a slow news time, but maybe CBC, just maybe make your news stories contain well, news?
