The struggle for women’s rights is never over.  Let us commemorate those who fought for our freedom and that are still fighting to preserve it.

Clinicescortsjpg     Hey folks, by now I think you are aware of my positions on pretty much every contentious issue that comes down the pipe.  We here at DWR regularly lay waste to the shitty anti-choice arguments that cross our path.  We take the time to deconstruct the bullcookery and show people how wrong our opponents are for the edification for all that bother to visit this little corner of the blogosphere.

I want you to go to Everysaturdaymorning’s blog, it is the experiences of people who escort women to a reproductive health centre in Louisville Kentucky.  These are the people you want to emulate, these are the people who are putting it on the line everyday in defense of women.  These are the people who shelter women in the face of insults, preaching and the threat of physical violence every day.

We talk and discuss here at DWR, but they DO over there at ESM.  Add them to your blog roll, add them to your reader, follow their stories.   The narratives at ESM are important and give us insight into what it is like in the trenches, fighting for women against those who would make them second class citizens.

For the New Year, I want to be (and you should too) a little more like the people who write ESM blog, to have the courage to stand fast to my convictions, as they do, and make a difference.

Happy New Year everyone and an special Happy New Year to the escorts down at ESM, thank you for doing what so many cannot.

The Guttmacher Institute is all about giving women the rights to control their reproductive future and of course, their bodies.  The pro-woman, pro-choice position is based on evidence and facts that no amount of prayer, handwaving or appeals to emotion can over come.

Being that your position(my beloved anti-choicers) is almost always a combination of those three factors it has come time to admit you’ve lost and now its time to move on.  I’m sure there are other worthy causes that require your nuanced attention – perhaps trying to get creationism into the school science curricula, or getting the 10 commandments put somewhere special that will tickle your deranged god-neuron in the appropriate fashion.

Of course, you won’t let this one go.   And I’m glad, because it exposes most of your platform for what it is: The hatred of women and their right to bodily autonomy.   So nurture your fetus-fetish, post your fetus-porn, harass women trying to make the best choice for themselves and their families – it all contributes to your eventual downfall.  Women will win, despite your most despicable efforts.  You’re doing your worst right now and it isn’t enough, nor will it ever be enough.

So sit down and enjoy the video, the sooner you clue in, the less painful it will be.

braintrauma Brain Trauma inducing thought of the day:  By trusting women and giving them control of their reproductive future, less unplanned pregnancies and less abortions will occur.   [tick tick tick….head asplodes….]

I know, how crazy is that?  Women…you know the ones that have children…are in the best position to decide whether the conditions are right to have a child.  (whoops, that’s two brain frying statements in the same post – apologies).

Offering women affordable healthcare (really, it should be universal and free; come join the rest of the civilized world America) makes for a more egalitarian, healthier, happier society.  Making it easier for people to access reproductive health services?  What is this sorcery?  The Guttmacher Institute summarizes the case nicely.

[read the whole report from the Guttmacher Institute here]

“A recent national survey of publicly funded facilities that provide family planning services found that facilities with a reproductive health focus were better able to meet the contraceptive needs of their younger clients—by incorporating youth-friendly service delivery, being accessible and ensuring confidentiality—than were primary care-focused facilities. Additionally, facilities with more youth-friendly services offered more long-acting reversible contraception (LARC), including the IUD and implant.”

[…]

“These juxtaposed concerns highlight the importance of offering women of all ages a broad range of contraceptive methods to choose from in the context of comprehensive, patient-focused counseling. The authors suggest that counselors manage expectations around LARC methods, highlighting both the reversible nature of these methods and that they are “set and forget,” making them highly effective. They also suggest that misconceptions about LARC methods that persist among both providers and patients be addressed through better education and counseling. Additionally, improved training on LARC methods for staff at all levels, not just clinical staff, will help facilities move toward a more comprehensive package of contraceptive services for young women, integrating IUDs and implants into the range of methods offered, which will ultimately help young women avoid unintended pregnancy and meet their reproductive goals. However, all of this requires financial support.

“Expanding insurance coverage that includes the full range of contraceptive methods is key to giving women access to the most highly effective—and often most expensive—methods,” said Adam Sonfield, senior policy associate with the Guttmacher Institute. “Implementation of the Affordable Care Act may go a long way toward easing cost issues related to LARC methods for U.S. women. In particular, it will make it easier for providers to offer these highly effective methods to younger clients, and provide the counseling they need to understand their options and choose the method that best meets their needs.”

Remember who was/is throwing a craptacular shit fit over healthcare?  Oh ya, the republicans and the church.  Women should keep that tidy little non-coincidence in mind.

Hypocrisy is flowing from the anti-choice sites like turds from a overfull diaper.  The idea that they are somehow committed to the preservation of life is the weapons-grade bullshite that religious thinking actively promotes.  The pious f*cks are equating abortion to the recent mass murder at Sandyhook Elementary School.

How dare you?

You (fetus fetishists) purport to have moral standards and then crassly use the murder of children to further your own anti-woman agenda.  I’m certainly glad that religion is such a fine moral compass and guide for behaving as a caring empathetic, human beings.

An image repost, but hey its still amazingly relevant.

abortionforidiots

So stop, just stop with the “what about the baaaaby” whinging and try to clear your addled cotton-filled heads for one microsecond.   Promote your toxic anti-female agenda – go to town (usually church) – awesome, we need exemplars to show how incredibly wrong you are.

But don’t use the deaths of innocent people to enhance(?) your attack on women.  It is gross and disgusting.

This post magically disappeared. Looks like someone has a shred of decency.

Reading though threads on abortion always raises my blood pressure, but it is worth it for gems like this:

Dianne:

“Either it is okay to abort, or it is okay to rape”

Occasionally I shock people by saying that all anti-choice men are, on some level, rapists. Many never complete the act of rape personally*, but they are all of the rapist mentality. There’s no real difference between a man who will tell a woman that she doesn’t have the right to control how her uterus is used and one who will say that she doesn’t have the right to say how her vagina is used.

*Though, of course, if they vote for “pro-life” politicians, they are effectively participating in the sexual assault of numerous women.
