People are morons.  They are abusing health care workers who are trying to save their ignorant, stupid lives.  Can you imagine the audacity of some of these donkey-donuts cursing out medical staff while proclaiming Covid isn’t real?  It’s happening here in Texas-North, and i am fucking embarrassed to live in this clownshow of a province.

“While we’re on this unit, the doctors (and nurses) are just being horrifically, horrifically abused,” she said.

“(Health-care workers are) being sworn at, they’re being told that COVID isn’t real and (patients) don’t want to be intubated,” Christensen said.

“There are no words at this point. I’m just completely baffled. I’ve walked the halls of this ICU. I’ve seen that it’s real.”

Dr. Paul Parks, the head of emergency medicine for the Alberta Medical Association, said the situation in Alberta hospitals will only become worse without an increase in restrictions.

“I am advocating so strongly for increased public health measures at this point in time and our government to take leadership and to put in some meaningful restrictions,” Parks said.

He said he believes the province is just days away from implementing critical care triage, with increasing COVID-19 patients and no workers to care for them.

“We’re for sure close,” he said. “We cannot continue to keep adding (patients).

This public health crisis was easily predictable and entirely avoidable, but our conservative UCP government led by Jason Kenny proclaimed the province was “Open for Summer!” and lifted all public health safety restrictions.

321 Albertans died for the “Open for Summer” debacle – and more are dying everyday – expect a big jump in the death toll once the medical triage starts.

What a tragedy, made worse with the knowledge that it was entirely preventable.

A great set of comments from Bach’s contemporaries.

Bach is like an astronomer who, with the help of ciphers, finds the most wonderful stars”
— FREDERIC CHOPIN
“Now there is music from which a man can learn something” — W.A. MOZART (on hearing Bach motets in Leipzig)
“Not Brook but Ocean should be his name!” — LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN (“Bach” is the German word for “brook”)
“Oh you happy sons of the North who have been reared at the bosom of Bach, how I envy you” — GIUSEPPE VERDI
“Bach is the most stupendous miracle in all music!
” — RICHARD WAGNER
“Study Bach! There you will find EVERYTHING!” — JOHANNES BRAHMS
Music owes as much to Bach as religion to its founder — ROBERT SCHUMANN

“And if we look at the works of JS Bach – a benevolent god to which all musicians should offer a prayer to defend themselves against mediocrity – on each page we discover things which we thought were born only yesterday, from delightful arabesques to an overflowing of religious feeling greater than anything we have since discovered. And in his works we will search in vain for anything the least lacking in good taste”
— CLAUDE DEBUSSY

The poetry, the atmosphere, the intensity of expression, the beauty of the preludes and fugues grip, overwhelm, and stimulate us. Let us not be afraid of the supreme contrapuntal science of the fugues, nor be overawed by the stern appearance and heavy wig of Father Bach. Let us gather around him, feel the love, the noble goodness that flow from each one of his phrases and that invigorate and bind us by ties strong and warm.
– Carl Friedrich Zelter (letter to Goethe, 9 June 1827) (Zelter was the teacher of Felix Mendelssohn)

Bach is the supreme genius of music… This man, who knows everything and feels everything, cannot write one note, however unimportant it may appear, which is anything but transcendent. He has reached the heart of every noble thought, and has done it in the most perfect way.
— Pablo Casals

“She played Bach. I do not know the names of the pieces, but I recognized the stiff ceremonial of the frenchified little German courts and the sober, thrifty comfort of the burghers, and the dancing on the village green, the green trees that looked like Christmas trees, and the sunlight on the wide German country, and a tender cosiness; and in my nostrils there was a warm scent of the soil and I was conscious of a sturdy strength that seemed to have its roots deep in mother earth, and of an elemental power that was timeless and had no home in space.”
— W. Somerset Maugham (from ‘The Alien Corn’)

Bach is the beginning and end of all music.
— Max Reger

When eminent biologist and author Lewis Thomas was asked what message he would choose to send from Earth into outer space in the Voyager spacecraft, he answered, “I would send the complete works of Johann Sebastian Bach.” After a pause, he added, “But that would be boasting.”

“The diagnostic of “gender dysphoria” actually came into existence as “gender identity disorder” and replaced the pathologizing of homosexuality (eliminated in 1973) in the DSM, the psychiatric bible. These diagnoses are adopted by popular vote of the American Psychiatric Association members, democratic rather than scientific. They have the strongest investment in construing psychology in terms of health and pathology. The association members had been convinced by lobbying groups and research, to vote to “normalize” homosexuality. In doing so, they wanted to leave a diagnostic possibility for those who remained conflicted about their sexual orientation. Diagnosis permits treatment via the official approval of the insurance companies, who today control the professions to a frightening extent. Thus was born “gender identity,” seemingly a harmless and even generous compromise.

Proponents of the transgender movement actually hijacked this diagnosis, along with the 50 years of feminist theory, practice and discoveries about the social construction and contextual nature of gender and spun them into a human rights movement, but not one for women. In fact, this movement actually infringes on many of the hard-won rights of women, including not only the right to assemble as a sex-based group but the right to call ourselves women, mothers and daughters. It even attempts to destroy the very concept of sex by conflating sex and gender, but make no mistake, lifetimes of research support unequivocally the difference between sex and gender. They may influence each other, but they are not the same thing. And sex can not be changed. It is a biological reality.

Perhaps the cruelest cut of all is to use our own half-century of feminist research and writing against us. These ideas are not an extension, but a perversion of feminist thought. The most radical goal of gender research, which has been only partially successful, has been to eliminate gendered categories and strictures rather than to multiply them. Feminists tend for obvious reasons to be social constructionists. But physical constructionists never. Feminists tend to respect and live in accord and peace, not try to dominate Mother Nature, not to outdo her or destroy her. We come in peace.

Here are some more important questions. If psychologists and psychiatrists are going to pathologize and diagnose, a questionable practice at best, then shouldn’t they diagnose carefully, as lives depend upon it? Are they then considering and eliminating such diagnoses as narcissism or sociopathic disorders, sexual fetishes, dissociative disorders or even delusional disorders? Is transitioning more like self-cutting or eating disorders than like homosexuality? Increasingly many patients are self-diagnosing, a practice not offered by the professions to any other group.”

This post will have been queued up, so here is what I think will happen.

The deck chairs on the good ship Canada might rearrange a bit, but the overall layout will remain the same.  We shall emerge from this election with a Liberal minority government.

The Liberal stratagists that suggested that they call an election during the 4th wave of a pandemic will have their asses fired *even though* the polls at the time put the Liberals far into majority.  This is a case in which common sense was overlooked for political expediency.  The voting during pandemic backlash has taken all the gild off of the hopes for a Liberal Majority government.

The bottom three parties – the Greens, NDP, and PPC, – will continue to toil in obscurity while the separatists in Quebec will make small gains because the stupid spectre of Quebec nationalism still needs to periodically stir and reprove its unworthiness to the rest of Canada.

The Maritimes will stay Liberal, Ontario will split the pie slightly differently, and the west will once again stick mouth over the Conservative tailpipe and inhale deeply – voting conservative blue because fuck thinking about politics seriously – we still have a grudge against the decades ago National Energy Policy – so any progressive thought must GO.

So, in conclusion, roughly more of the same.  Oh Canada…
