June is coming, which means the machinery will start again.

The flags. The emails. The school bulletin boards. The corporate logos. The municipal proclamations. The HR language. The social media badges. The rainbow email signatures. The familiar little suggestion that anyone who declines the ritual must be hiding some moral defect.

That is exactly why Pride needs civic proportion.

Not abolition. Not cruelty. Not some bitter campaign to drive gay and lesbian citizens back into silence. That would be wrong, and it would also miss the point. The question is not whether gay people should be treated with dignity. Of course they should. The question is whether equal citizenship requires a month of institutional performance, followed in Canada by what the federal government now openly calls Pride Season, running from June to September.

At some point, recognition became saturation.

That distinction matters. Visibility can have value. There are still young people who feel isolated, families that struggle to accept them, and countries where homosexuality remains criminalized. None of that is trivial. But a liberal society still has to distinguish between civic recognition and compulsory enthusiasm. It can protect minorities without turning public institutions into ideological billboards. It can permit parades, private celebration, voluntary corporate sponsorship, and public respect without making every workplace, school, and government office participate in a rolling moral pageant.

Veterans have Remembrance Day, with Veterans’ Week as a focused period of solemn national memory. Fallen firefighters are honoured through Firefighters’ National Memorial Day. Canadian peacekeepers are recognized on National Peacekeepers’ Day. These are not minor observances. They include people who served in wars, ran toward fire, responded to disaster, watched friends die, and carried burdens most citizens will never see.

Yet their recognition is bounded and it is not disrespect, but rather it is a demonstration of civic restraint.

Pride has not been restrained. It has expanded from a protest, to a celebration, to a month, to a season, to a branding cycle, to a school-calendar fixture, to a test of institutional obedience. The expansion is now so familiar that many people barely notice it. They only notice the consequences of objecting.

Decline the flag, and suspicion arrives. Question the school display, and someone starts measuring your moral temperature. Object to compelled language, and the labels come quickly: hateful, unsafe, bigoted, backward, not fit for polite company. This is how a movement that once asked for tolerance drifts into reputational discipline. Not by sending police to your door, but by making ordinary dissent socially expensive enough that most people decide silence is easier.

Surprisingly(?)this isn’t healthy pluralism or even good advocacy on a societal scale.

Every cause eventually faces a choice. It can keep expanding its demands forever, or it can settle into the ordinary dignity of citizenship. The first option keeps activists, consultants, committees, and bureaucracies busy. The second allows citizens to live together without every institution becoming a stage for moral performance.

And this critique does not apply only to one letter in the ever-expanding acronym. The problem is the machinery itself: the institutional expectation that citizens must affirm not only dignity and legal equality, but the whole ideological package attached to the celebration. That is where reasonable accommodation gives way to soft coercion.

The smarter move would be if the Pride organizations themselves stepped up and acknowledged their overreach.

They could say: we have made our point. Gay and lesbian Canadians are not going anywhere. We are neighbours, friends, co-workers, artists, teachers, soldiers, parents, and citizens. We do not need four months of official reinforcement to prove we belong. Let Pride return to civic scale: a bounded public recognition, private celebration for those who want it, and no expectation that every institution must join the ritual.

That would be a sign of confidence, not retreat. A movement secure in its place does not need every bank logo recoloured, every school hallway decorated, or every employee nudged into public agreement. If the goal is equal citizenship, then the endgame cannot be permanent mobilization. It has to be ordinary civic life, with room for celebration, indifference, criticism, and refusal.

Let communities hold parades. Let businesses support Pride if they choose. Let citizens attend, ignore, criticize, or enjoy the day as free people. But public institutions should stop behaving as though full civic membership requires annual submission to a political liturgy.

This from X user America 2100.   This post describes the hollowing out of support for the rights and liberties that the LGB movement fought so hard to obtain.  Support for gay marriage in America is trending downward.

One of the major reasons for this decline is that the LGB movement has been parasitized by the TQ+ activists who are trying to destabilize society rather than integrate into it.  TQ+ activism requires a constant stream of people that are at odds with all the norms in society, who see the normative values as oppressive and structures that must be burnt to the ground.  In other words, a revolution, and in the new society that rises from the ashes with themselves at its centre.

These activists do not know history.  If they did they would see that every revolutionary vanguard is mercilessly destroyed once the society is burnt down and reforming.  The powers that be have no need for radical activists whose only goal is to destabilize society.  See what happened to the Red Guard after the revolution in China as proof of this assertion.

Support those who want to integrate into the current society – the one that guarantees personal liberty, freedom of thought and speech, and private property.  Fight to maintain our democratic principles and effect incremental positive change within the society.  Because the oppression that will be visited upon all of us by revolutionary regime will be magnitudes greater than what is being experienced now.  Count on it.

 

“🏳️‍🌈”Pride Month” begins tomorrow. But here’s what they won’t tell you: The LGBT movement is losing—badly.

Let’s look at some of the polls.

Just a few years ago, it seemed like the LGBT revolution had won, once and for all. By 2020, even a majority of Republicans supported gay marriage.

But the Left overplayed their hand. What began as a backlash to gender ideology and the indoctrination of kids is now turning Americans against the entire LGBT project, including gay marriage—something that would have been unthinkable just five years ago.

Rather than continuing to climb, American support for gay marriage has dropped 7 points in just one year (from 2022 to 2023).

Republican support for gay marriage dropped 15 points over the same period. In 2022, 56% of Republicans supported gay marriage. By 2023, that number had fallen to 41%—the lowest it’s been in a decade.

Among young people, too—the most liberal and LGBT-friendly demographic—support for gay marriage is going down, not up. From 2018 to 2024, support for gay marriage among 18-29 year olds dropped by 8 points.

This wasn’t supposed to happen. “History” was only supposed to move in one direction—and gay marriage was supposed to be a “settled issue.”

The majority of Americans still support gay marriage. But the trend lines should serve as a bright-red warning sign for the Left. If they’re losing ground on this issue, they’re in big, big trouble.”

This is what living in a patriarchy is folks. Doesn’t matter you gender, sexual orientation, or your personal feelings. If you belong to the class of women (adult human females), you will be on the short end of the stick. In ‘rainbow spaces’ and in general society did you need to find the lowest on the totem pole? Look for women, you know the ones that produce the large gametes, to be on the bottom rung.

It is terrifying that this level of social malfeasance exists in our society, yet it persists. Why? Because we abide by the status quo, better to look away than to get involved.

The two women left needing hospital treatment after they were attacked on a bus in a homophobic assault have blamed a rise in rightwing populism for growing hate crime and called on people to stand up for each other.

Melania Geymonat, 28, and her girlfriend, Chris, 29, defiantly announced they would not be intimidated into hiding their sexuality, days after they said they were attacked by several young men when they refused to kiss upon demand.

“I was and still am angry. It was scary, but this is not a novel situation,” said Chris. “I’m not scared about being visibly queer. If anything, you should do it more.

“A lot of people’s rights and basic safety are at risk. I want people to feel emboldened to stand up to the same people who feel emboldened by the rightwing populism that is, I feel, responsible for the escalation in hate crimes,” she told the BBC in a televised interview. “I want people to take away from this that they should stand up for themselves and each other.”

Geymonat added: “The violence is not only because we are women which are dating each other. It’s also because we are women.”

A Metropolitan police statement said: “Four males aged between 15 to 18 have been arrested on Friday 7 June on suspicion of robbery and aggravated GBH. They have been taken to separate London police stations for questioning.”

The attack – in which a phone and a bag were stolen – happened in the early hours of 30 May. A photograph of the couple’s bloodied faces went viral on Friday.

In a Facebook post, Geymonat, a flight attendant originally from Uruguay, said in both English and Spanish that they were subjected to homophobic abuse while being beaten up: “They started behaving like hooligans, demanding that we kissed so they could enjoy watching, calling us ‘lesbians’ and describing sexual positions … The next thing I know is that Chris is in the middle of the bus fighting with them.

“The next thing I know is I’m being punched. I got dizzy at the sight of my blood and fell back. I don’t remember whether or not I lost consciousness.”

Politicians roundly condemned the attack.

Theresa May said: “This was a sickening attack and my thoughts are with the couple affected. Nobody should ever have to hide who they are or who they love and we must work together to eradicate unacceptable violence towards the LGBT community.”

The Labour party leader, Jeremy Corbyn, said: “We must not, and will not, accept this homophobic and misogynist violence in our society. Solidarity to Melania and Chris, and to all in the LGBT+ community for everything they endure for simply being who they are.”

The London mayor, Sadiq Khan, urged witnesses to the “disgusting, misogynistic attack” to come forward. “Hate crimes against the LGBT+ community will not be tolerated in London,” he said.

The women and equalities minister, Penny Mordaunt, said she was “appalled to see this kind of homophobic violence in the UK, there’s no place for this kind of vile behaviour in our society”.
